Mumbai, June 17 -- Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, urging him not to entertain any "unauthorised claims" of a split or merger by party lawmakers amid growing speculation of defections from the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction.
In the letter written on Tuesday , Sawant cited media reports suggesting that some MPs elected on the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) symbol have either approached, or are contemplating approaching, the Speaker's office to seek recognition as a separate group or to merge with another political party.
Sharing the letter on X, Sawant said he had requested the Speaker not to entertain any such representation unless it carries the formal authorisation of the party.
