Nagpur, June 12 -- A young man allegedly attempted self-immolation near the Gandhi Sagar Lake area in Nagpur on Friday, triggering panic among locals before alert citizens intervened and rescued him, police said.
According to officials, the man reportedly poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze near the busy locality.
Bystanders and local residents immediately rushed to the spot and managed to douse the flames, averting a major tragedy through their timely intervention.
Police personnel and officials from concerned departments reached the scene soon after the incident and launched an investigation.
