New Delhi, June 25 -- The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) on Thursday asserted that the exclusion of star paddler Manika Batra from India's Asian Games squad was based entirely on established selection criteria, rejecting suggestions of any arbitrariness in the process.
The federation issued the clarification after Batra sought an explanation for her omission and questioned the transparency of the selection exercise.
TTFI said the squad was picked in accordance with its approved policy, which allocates 50 per cent weightage to national rankings, 40 per cent to international rankings and 10 per cent to the discretion of selectors.
