New Delhi, July 8 -- The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has notified amendments to the Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPI) Regulations, replacing the existing US dollar-denominated fee structure with a rupee-based payment system for foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) and foreign venture capital investors (FVCIs). The revised framework will come into effect in six months, providing overseas investors and intermediaries with adequate time to transition to the new regime.
Under the amended regulations, the existing fee of US $1,000 has been replaced with Rs 90,000 in eligible foreign exchange equivalent, according to a notification issued by Sebi.
