Mangaluru, Aug. 5 -- SDPI national leader Mohammed Riyaz Farangipete was on Wednesday sentenced to six months' simple imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 by a Karnataka court in a case related to a provocative speech allegedly aimed at hurting religious sentiments.
The Principal Civil Judge and JMFC Court at Belthangady in Dakshina Kannada district convicted Riyaz Farangipete under Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code after finding the charges proved, police said.
