Mumbai, June 16 -- Ambedkarite organisations and representatives of 59 Scheduled Caste communities have united against the Maharashtra government's proposed Scheduled Caste (SC) sub-categorisation policy, announcing a massive joint protest march to the state legislature on June 30.
Various groups that had earlier planned separate demonstrations have now decided to merge their protests into a single historic "Maha Morcha" (mega march). The decision was taken unanimously during a coordination meeting attended by leaders of several Ambedkarite and social organisations.
Previously, a Long March movement from Beed and the Republican Sena led by Anandraj Ambedkar had announced a march in Mumbai on June 26.
