Anurag KumarNew Delhi, May 15 -- After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to the public to save fuel, the Supreme Court Friday decided to conduct hearings only via video conference on Mondays and Fridays.
From Tuesday to Thursday every week, the apex court will adopt a hybrid mode.
As per the new arrangement, all hearings on Mondays and Fridays will take place only online. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, lawyers and litigants will have the option of appearing either physically or virtually.
The SC further stated that to ensure optimum fuel utilisation, judges had "unanimously resolved" to encourage car-pooling arrangements amongst themselves.
