Patna, June 30 -- The Supreme Court has refused to hear a petition concerning the alleged encounter killing of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari in Bihar's Bhojpur district. On Tuesday, a bench of Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice Shail Nagu advised the petitioner to approach the High Court instead.

In the petition, Supreme Court lawyer Vishal Tiwari had alleged that Bharat Tiwari's encounter was fake and sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the incident. He also sought strict legal action against the police personnel allegedly responsible.

The petition had further requested that the investigation be monitored by an independent committee of experts headed by a retired Supreme Court judge.
