Parmod KumarNew Delhi, Aug. 13 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to initiate suo motu action against Rajya Sabha member Nagendra Ray alias Anant Maharaj over his alleged denigrating remarks against Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, observing that such jurisdiction is ordinarily invoked where a serious cause requires the Court's intervention, including matters concerning the environment and forests or marginalised, poor and socially and economically backward people who are unable to approach the Court themselves.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana instead asked the lawyer, who mentioned the matter seeking suo motu cognisance, to file a petition raising his grievance.
