Parmod KumarNew Delhi, Aug. 31 -- The Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain a petition seeking mandatory disclosure of the percentage of ethanol blended in petrol on fuel-dispensing nozzles as well as bills and receipts, while granting the petitioner liberty to approach the concerned High Court with his grievances.
A bench comprising Justices M M Sundresh and Prasanna B Varale passed the order on a petition by advocate N K Goswami, who asserted that consumers had a right to know the composition of the fuel they were purchasing.
Pointing to a petrol receipt which did not disclose the proportion of ethanol in the fuel, Goswami submitted, "See the receipt, there is no mention of ethanol. I have the right to know."He maintained that t...
