Parmod KumarNew Delhi, Feb. 26 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday banned the new Class VIII Social Science textbook published by NCERT after taking serious objection to a chapter referring to "corruption in the judiciary." The Court ordered that all copies of the book - both printed and digital - be immediately withdrawn from schools, stores and online platforms.
A Bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi said the contents of the chapter appeared to be part of a deep-rooted and deliberate attempt to undermine the majesty and authority of the judiciary.
