Mumbai, Feb. 25 -- The appointment of the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council is likely to take place during the ongoing Budget Session. Congress leader Satej Patil from Kolhapur has emerged as the frontrunner for the position.

Leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi had submitted a letter to the Chairman during the Winter Session regarding the selection for the post.

A decision on the appointment is expected soon from Chairman Ram Shinde.
