Siliguri, Sept. 15 -- India's iconic Saraighat Bridge, a vital gateway connecting Assam and the wider Northeast with the rest of the country, has undergone a major structural rehabilitation after more than six decades of continuous service, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said on Tuesday.
The comprehensive rehabilitation, undertaken at a cost of around Rs 7 crore, began on July 13and was completed on September 15, with the focus on restoring structural strength, improving durability and ensuring the bridge's long-term safety.
