Kolkata, April 8 -- Sudipta Sen, the prime accused in the multi-crore Saradha Scam, is set to be released from jail after 13 years, following a key order from the Calcutta High Court.

With legal hurdles now cleared, there is no remaining obstacle to his release. If procedures are completed on time, Sen is likely to walk out of jail on Thursday.

Sen had been entangled in a massive web of 389 cases related to the chit fund scam.

While he had secured bail earlier in cases investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation, his release was delayed due to 308 cases handled by the state police.

Despite receiving bail in most of those cases, two cases registered at Barasat police station had remained the final barrier. The court has now grant...
