Mumbai, May 6 -- Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday defended West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for not resigning amid recent political developments, stating that her decision was justified.
In a detailed post on social media platform X, Raut referred to the Supreme Court judgment delivered by former Chief Justice Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud in the case involving Uddhav Thackeray and the Maharashtra government.
According to Raut, the Supreme Court had not reinstated Uddhav Thackeray as Chief Minister because he had submitted his resignation. He argued that the judgment clearly reflected the constitutional implications of resignation and reinstatement in political office.
