Chandigarh, May 1 -- Tensions flared in Sangrur on International Labour Day as members of the Sanjha Morcha Punjab and various unions representing unemployed youth staged a massive protest outside the residence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

The demonstration turned volatile when protesters attempted to breach security cordons, leading to a heated confrontation and scuffles with a heavy police contingent deployed at the site.

The agitating youth were demanding the immediate fulfillment of pending recruitment promises, the release of a comprehensive recruitment calendar, and the removal of restrictive eligibility criteria.
