Lucknow, Sept. 26 -- Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has expressed deep condolences on the demise of senior party leader and former minister Ram Govind Chaudhary.
He said Chaudhary belonged to the generation of socialist movement leaders who worked to strengthen the identity and ideology of socialism in its early days.
Ram Govind Chaudhary, a veteran socialist leader, passed away last night after prolonged illness. He was around 80. He was a close associate of Jai Prakash Narain, Former PM Chandrashekhar and SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.
He was an eight-time MLA and was Leader of the Opposition in the assembly during the first term of the Yogi government in UP.
