Bhubaneswar, Aug. 20 -- Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has welcomed the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026, notified by the Central Government on August 17, describing it as a significant reform aimed at ensuring greater fiscal predictability and long-term policy certainty in the mineral sector.

SAIL sources said the amendment provides greater clarity and uniformity in mineral taxation and levies and also addresses pending retrospective levies, thereby enhancing certainty and confidence among stakeholders in the mining industry.
