Lucknow, April 1 -- A special court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in Lucknow has declared former BSP MLC Mohammad Iqbal a Fugitive Economic Offender.

The order was issued on Tuesday by Special Judge Rahul Prakash, allowing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to proceed with further action against his domestic as well as overseas assets.

According to ED officials, properties worth over Rs 5,000 crore linked to Iqbal have already been attached. Following the latest court directive under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, additional assets estimated at around Rs 1,000 crore will now also be seized.
