Thrissur, April 2 -- Senior Congress and observer for the forthcoming Kerala Assembly elections, Sachin Pilot, has expressed surprise over the "silence" of the CPM leadership in Kerala on the issue of US trade tariffs.

Speaking at a "Development Conclave" organised by the Wadakkanchery UDF candidate Vaisaklh Narayanaswamy, Pilot said the lack of protest from the CPM suggested an understanding between the Left and the BJP in Kerala ahead of the April 9 polls.

He alleged that the "political proximity" between the LDF and BJP shows how Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has managed to secure repeated deferrals of the SNC-Lavalin corruption case in the Supreme Court, a record 37 times.
