Kolkata, Sept. 7 -- The Sabarna Roychowdhury Paribar Parishad has approached the South 24 Parganas district judge, who is also the chairman of the Kalighat temple committee by virtue of his office, raising questions over the whereabouts and accounting of jewellery, valuables and other precious items belonging to Goddess Kali and donated by devotees.
The family council has alleged that a vault at a nationalised bank was used to store the temple's valuable assets, but the key to the vault has reportedly been missing since 1980.
It has sought an inquiry into the contents of the vault, the last verification of the assets and whether all the valuables remain secure.
