Patna, June 18 -- The Bihar government has appointed eminent senior advocate and Additional Solicitor General (ASG) of India, S D Sanjay, as the new Advocate General (AG) of the state.
According to a notification issued by the Bihar government on Thursday, the term of S D Sanjay as Advocate General would be effective from the date of his assuming the office.
The key appointment comes in the wake of the resignation of former Advocate General P K Shahi, who stepped down from the top legal post on June 14, 2026. Shahi was appointed to the position by the Nitish Kumar-led government on January 16, 2023. Following his resignation, the state government appointed Sanjay as the next Advocate General of the state.
