London, Feb. 23 -- Ryan Coogler made history at the 79th BAFTA Awards by winning the Original Screenplay award for his film 'Sinners', becoming the first Black winner in this category, according to Variety. The audience erupted in applause as Coogler took the stage to accept the honour.

"I didn't expect that," Coogler said, visibly moved, as he addressed the crowd. "This is nerve-wracking."
