Moscow, Sept. 9 -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused European leaders of calling for a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war as a way of seeking to preserve what he described as an "aggressively anti-Russian" government in Kyiv.
Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, Lavrov said even European politicians who accept that Ukraine cannot retake by military force the Ukrainian regions that Russia has claimed since 2014 are still pursuing a strategy that threatens Russia and its citizens, and highlighted Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as examples of European leaders now advocating a ceasefire.
