Simferopol, March 12 -- Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Thursday that it had foiled what it described as a Ukrainian plot to assassinate a senior Russian military official in the Crimean Peninsula.
According to the agency, the main suspect is a 39-year-old resident of Sevastopol, the home port of Russia's Black Sea Fleet.
Investigators claim the man volunteered to work for what the FSB described as a "terrorist organisation acting under the control of Ukrainian special services."The FSB did not name the group allegedly involved but said that several militia groups and military units fighting for Kyiv reportedly fit the description, including the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), led by neo-Nazi Denis 'White Rex' Kapustin.
