Mumbai, March 9 -- An amount of nearly rupees 200 crore in subsidy for the Shiv Bhojan Thali scheme catering to the poor and needy, is pending with the Maharashtra government, leading to the closure of several centres and pushing many others to the verge of shutting down due to lack of financial support, members said in the state legislative assembly on Monday.

The issue was raised in the House through a calling attention motion by MLAs Sudhir Mungantiwar, Sana Malik, Ashish Deshmukh, and Bala Nandgaonkar, who highlighted the difficulties faced by operators of Shiv Bhojan centres in the absence of subsidy payments.
