Nashik, March 25 -- Panic buying of fuel was witnessed in several parts of Maharashtra after rumours about an impending petrol shortage spread rapidly on social media.

The situation led to long queues at petrol pumps late into the night, particularly in Yeola town of Nashik district.

According to reports, messages claiming that petrol supply would be halted due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran went viral. Alarmed by these claims, residents rushed to fuel stations between 11 pm and midnight, creating heavy crowds.

A similar situation was reported in Nagpur, where, despite assurances from authorities about adequate fuel availability, long lines of vehicles were seen at multiple petrol pumps...
