Agartala, July 15 -- The Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), an ally of the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura, called on Election Commission of India (ECI) to amend the voter enumeration forms for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
The party argued that these forms should differentiate between residents of Sixth Schedule areas (under the autonomous district council) and those living in other regions, in light of the provisions of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
IPFT general secretary Swapan Debbarma stated that the party has already presented its concerns to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tripura and plans to send a delegation to the Election Commission's headquarters in New Delhi shortly.
