Manila, July 23 -- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Thursday President Donald Trump's approach to Iran was "a head for an eye," warning Tehran it would face severe consequences for attacks on Americans or U.S. interests, while insisting Washington's objective remained preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon rather than pursuing regime change.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Manila, Rubio dismissed Iran's recent warnings of retaliation and said Tehran was paying a heavy military and economic price for the ongoing conflict.
