Washington, Aug. 2 -- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has described Cuba as an "espionage superpower" and warned that the island nation continues to pose a national security threat to the United States through intelligence operations and influence networks.
In an interview with Fox News, Rubio defended a recently released State Department report on Cuba, saying the country has consistently embedded spies inside US institutions and supported left-wing insurgencies across Latin America.
"Cuba is the only country that consistently has implanted and embedded spies in our system without even paying them," Rubio said.
