Chandigarh, May 31 -- Well-known RTI activist and advocate Simranjit Singh was shot dead near the Law Gate of Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara today, prompting a high-level investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Police said Singh suffered a fatal gunshot injury to the head and was found lying in an open area near the university campus. The attack is believed to have taken place during the morning hours. Investigators recovered his licensed pistol, two mobile phones and his SUV from the scene, along with evidence linked to the shooting.
