Chennai, July 19 -- A notorious rowdy who attacked the police and attempted to flee to evade arrest, was shot at and arrested at suburban Kundrathur on Sunday.
Police said Karuppu alias Tamil Alagu (27) is a A category rowdy facing over a dozen criminal cases including murder and, attempt to murder charges.
Acting on intelligence that he along his associates were making country bombs, a special team rushed to the spot to arrest him. When they surrounded them, Karuppu attacked a police constable with a sickle and tried to escape.
