Bhubaneswar, July 27 -- Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved a new milestone in hot-rolled (HR) plate production, with the Sheet Shearing Line (SSL) of Hot Strip Mill-2 (HSM-2) registering a record output of 656 tonnes in a single shift.
RSP sources said on Monday that the SSL sheared 26 coils weighing a total of 656 tonnes during the A Shift on July 24, setting a new production benchmark for the unit.
The latest achievement surpassed the previous single-shift record of 627 tonnes from 25 coils, which was achieved during the C Shift on August 11, 2025.
