Shimla, May 22 -- Polling for the general elections to the Rohru Municipal Council in Himachal Pradesh was held peacefully on Friday, recording a voter turnout of 77.31 per cent, the State Election Commission said.
According to the Commission Secretary, Surjeet Singh Rathore, polling was conducted through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from 7 am to 3 pm.
A total of 3,151 voters were registered in the municipal council area, of whom 2,436 exercised their franchise.
The elections were held on non-party symbols.
He said nominations for the elections to Rohru Municipal Council and Narkanda Nagar Panchayat were invited following a notification issued on April 27. Nomination papers were filed between May 5 and 7, while scrutiny was conduct...
