New Delhi, June 23 -- Former India captain Rohit Sharma, who led the country to the 2024 T20 World Cup title, was conferred with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honour, by President Droupadi Murmu at the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Tuesday.
Indian women's hockey stalwart Savita Punia was also awarded the Padma Shri, while tennis legend Vijay Amritraj received the Padma Bhushan.
Rohit, one of India's most successful cricketers, was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the sport.
