Mumbai, April 27 -- The controversy over remarks on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by a spiritual thinker Dhirendra Shastri continues to escalate despite his public apology, with protests across Maharashtra showing little sign of subsiding.
Shastri, head of the Bageshwar Dham temple in Madhya Pradesh, has said his observations during a spiritual discourse were torn out of historical context but he nevertheless is apologetic if his statements had hurt sentiments of various people in Maharashtra.
On Monday, NCP leader Rohit Pawar renewed his demand for a complete ban on Shastri's entry into the state.
