Mumbai, July 17 -- NCP (Sharad Pawar) women's wing state president Rohini Khadse on Friday criticised the Maharashtra government for discontinuing the free saree distribution scheme for Antyodaya ration card families.

"Devendra Fadnavis-ji and Eknath Shinde-saheb! Forget Rs 2,100 and Rs 1,500-have you now become unable to afford even one saree for your beloved sisters?" Khadse said, questioning the decision.

She alleged that the ruling coalition had made several promises and announced multiple schemes for women ahead of the elections, but was now withdrawing them one by one after coming to power, citing financial constraints.
