Lucknow, June 12 -- Encouraged by data from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS), the Uttar Pradesh Health Department has decided to formulate a three-year roadmap to further reduce the neonatal mortality rate.
A key component of this initiative will be increasing the total number of beds to 3,000 across the state's 120 Special Newborn Care Units (SNCUs). Currently, these units have a combined capacity of 1,892 beds.
Amit Kumar Ghosh, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health), issued these instructions on Thursday during a brainstorming session held at the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare.
