Patna, June 13 -- : The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) today urged Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain to intervene to ensure timely payment of salaries and promotions for contractual teachers (Niyojit Shikshaks) in the state.

In a letter addressed to the Governor, RJD spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan alleged that contract teachers in Bihar had not received their salaries for the past four months, causing severe financial hardship to them and their families.

Describing the situation as "deeply concerning and unfortunate," Gagan said the prolonged delay in salary payments had pushed many teachers and their dependents to the brink of economic distress.
