Bettiah, Sept. 25 -- Leaders and workers of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) staged a protest outside the Bettiah Collectorate on Friday demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar from office. They also burnt his effigy.
Addressing the protesters, RJD district president Saheb Hussain Ansari said that the Election Commission, being a constitutional institution, is expected to function in an impartial and transparent manner. He said questions being raised over the electoral rolls and the election process should be answered clearly.
Ansari said the RJD would continue to raise its voice over the credibility of democratic institutions and the rights of voters.
