Shimla/New Delhi, May 16 -- Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta on Saturday called for transforming river conservation into a mass movement and said protecting rivers is not only the responsibility of governments but also the social and moral duty of every citizen.
Addressing the International River Festival Conference (IFOR)-2026 in New Delhi, the Governor stressed the need for global cooperation, youth participation and sustainable development to preserve river ecosystems in the face of growing environmental challenges.
The conference was jointly organised by the International Festival of Rivers (IFOR) and the Sanatani Ganga Foundation.
