Bhubaneswar, July 17 -- Ruling that criminal proceedings cannot be revived based on evidence that has already been examined and rejected, the Orissa High Court has quashed proceedings against a decorated police officer in the 2019 illegal stone quarrying case, ruling that such prosecution amounts to an abuse of the judicial process.
The Single Bench of Justice Dr Sanjeeb Kumar Panigrahi set aside the five-year-old lower court taking cognisance against Bikram Keshari Jena, then Inspector-in-Charge of Khurda Sadar Police Station, as well as the second supplementary charge sheet filed by the Special Task Force (STF).
