Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 15 -- The revised criteria for brain death certification are expected to strengthen posthumous organ donation by ensuring greater transparency, preventing possible misuse and making the process more reliable, forensic experts said.

The issue came up for discussion at the third national conference of forensic experts, AFMECON '26, held over two days at the Old Auditorium of the Medical College here.

Experts said the changes in the procedures for determining and certifying brain death would help establish greater transparency and credibility in the organ donation process.
