Nagpur, April 25 -- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended a revenue assistant from the Nagpur Collector's office while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh at his residence in the city, official said on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Naresh Sadhuraoji Barve (54), a resident of Nandanvan Layout, had reportedly been holding up a decision on an appeal related to construction on a "nazul" plot in the Mahal area.

Officials said that when the complainant sought clarity over the delay, Barve allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh to process and clear the file.

Refusing to comply, the complainant approached the ACB, which subsequently initiated verification procedures on April 17 and April 20.
