Hyderabad, June 30 -- Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday launched the distribution of Rs 9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, announcing that the amount would be credited to farmers' accounts over the next nine days.

In the first phase, Rs 2,482.02 crore was transferred to the accounts of 41.37 lakh farmers.

Addressing the Rythu Bharosa fund release programme at Shilpakala Vedika, the Chief Minister alleged that the previous BRS government had pushed Telangana into a debt of over Rs 8 lakh crore, while his government had spent Rs 1.75 lakh crore on farmers' welfare during the last 30 months despite clearing inherited liabilities.
