Hyderabad, April 16 -- A retired Army jawan displayed exceptional courage by apprehending a habitual offender who attempted a chain-snatching in Amberpet, earning praise from Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar.

The incident occurred on April 14 at the Amberpet Irani Hotel bus stop, when the accused tried to snatch a gold chain from Cheerala Ramudu, a retired soldier, as he was alighting from a bus. Showing presence of mind, Ramudu resisted the attack and caught hold of the offender despite his age.

On receiving information through Dial 100, Amberpet police personnel rushed to the spot and took the accused into custody.
