New Delhi, June 12 -- India's retail inflation rose to 3.93 percent in May compared to 3.48 percent in April, government data said.
Food inflation for the previous month stood at 4.78 percent Year-over-Year (Y-o-Y).
The corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban remained at 4.85 and 4.66 percent, respectively.
"Year-on-year Housing inflation rate for the month of May is 2.12percent (Provisional), and the corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban are 2.73 and 1.91percent respectively," the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) statement said here.
According to Ministry, the top five items with low inflation for May were potato, peas, motor car, jeep, cumin, motor cycle and scooter.
