New Delhi, Aug. 12 -- India's retail inflation rose to 4.45 per cent in July 2026, up from 4.38 per cent in June, according to provisional data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Wednesday.
The increase was largely accompanied by higher food price pressures, with food inflation rising to 5.52 per cent in July from 5.32 per cent in June. Rural food inflation was higher at 5.79 per cent, while urban food inflation stood at 5.05 per cent.
Rural consumers faced higher overall inflation at 4.84 per cent, compared with 3.96 per cent in urban areas. In June, rural and urban inflation stood at 4.74 per cent and 3.93 per cent, respectively.
