Ashok RainaPalampur, Aug. 12 -- Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and union Minister Shanta Kumar on Tuesday urged the Centre to restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir before August 15, saying the people of the union Territory had demonstrated their faith in democracy by participating peacefully in Assembly elections.
In a statement, Kumar said seven years had passed since the abrogation of Article 370, after which Jammu and Kashmir had witnessed continuous development.
He noted that the Supreme Court, while upholding the abrogation of Article 370, had also referred to the Centre's assurance that statehood would be restored to Jammu and Kashmir at an appropriate time.
