New Delhi, April 25 -- : Renowned economist and current MLA from West Bengal, Ashok Lahiri, is set to be the new Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, the government said on Saturday here.
Lahiri has an illustrious career in the field of finance and previously served as the 12th Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India.
He has also stints at prestigious international institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a consultant and senior economist, respectively.
Academically, he holds a doctorate from the Delhi School of Economics (DSE), which he earned in 1976. Lahiri also served as a member of the Fifteenth Finance Commission.
